Rhino Relocation at Loisaba a Resounding Success

The rhino reintroduction initiative at Loisaba has been a resounding success, which is wonderful news for guests staying at Elewana Collection’s three camps within the conservancy (Loisaba Tented Camp, Loisaba Star Beds, Loisaba Lodo Springs).

The rhinos have settled well into their new environment, with territories established and couples observed mating. Notably, these pairings have contributed to genetic diversity, with individuals from different conservancies forming bonds. Bingwa from Ol Pejeta Conservancy has been seen with both Naomi from  Nairobi National Park and Akitam from Lewa, Margaret from Nairobi National Park has partnered with Muturi from Lewa, and Bruno from Ol Pejeta Conservancy has bonded with Safiya from Lewa.

The Loisaba team has demonstrated ongoing commitment to the project through continuous training, resulting in effective rhino monitoring and security measures. Guests of the Loisaba camps have also benefited greatly from this initiative, as rhinos are regularly spotted during game drives, enhancing the overall safari experience.
