A New Chapter for El Karama
El Karama Lodge and El Karama Wildlife Conservancy are celebrating an exciting new chapter with the arrival of Tumaini and Mugumo, two adult male white rhinos who naturally wandered onto the conservancy in search of a new home.
Their arrival marks an important conservation milestone and means guests can now experience the Big Five at El Karama. With the dedicated ranger team protecting, tracking and monitoring the rhinos, sightings have become a special part of the safari experience.
Located in Laikipia, an increasingly important stronghold for rhino conservation in Kenya, El Karama’s story is built on more than 60 years of dedicated land management and conservation. Conservation fees from guests are reinvested directly into wildlife protection and habitat management, helping safeguard this remarkable landscape for generations to come.
The Bush Gym & Wellness Experience
El Karama has also enhanced its wellness offering with a new Bush Gym and Yoga Deck, set above the Ewaso Nyiro River with beautiful views of the surrounding wildlife.
Guests can enjoy an open-air workout surrounded by nature, complemented by the Running Track, Bush Sauna, Bush Spa, chemical-free pool and fresh farm-to-table cuisine. It is the perfect way to combine adventure, relaxation and wellness during a safari.
Shamba-to-Fork Dining
El Karama’s food experience begins right in the lodge’s own Shamba, where fresh vegetables, herbs, salads and edible flowers are grown using rainwater and chemical-free methods.
For stays of more than four nights, guests can enjoy a special Shamba Lunch or Dinner, with the chef harvesting and preparing fresh ingredients beneath the acacia trees—a unique and memorable farm-to-table experience.
