Encounter Giza – Africa’s Rare Black Leopard – in Laikipia
In the wild, rugged beauty of Kenya’s Laikipia region lives one of nature’s most mysterious and breathtaking creatures: Giza, the legendary black leopard. First photographed in 2019 by Will Burrard-Lucas, she was the first black leopard scientifically recorded in Africa in over 100 years. With her sleek, inky coat, glowing orange eyes, and faintly visible rosettes in the right light, Giza has captivated wildlife lovers around the globe.
Seeing a black leopard in the wild is incredibly rare. Laikipia is now one of the only places in the world to spot these melanistic cats.
