SAMPLE ITINERARY

3 days Gorilla tracking in Uganda – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Day 1: Kampala – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

In the morning at 6:00 am leave Kampala after breakfast and then drive southwestern Uganda to Bwindi Gorilla Park. You will stop at the equator and Mbarara for photos and lunch respectively. The drive will take you about 8-9 hours, reaching the park in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi

This morning you will have breakfast and then transfer to the park headquarters for briefing before you move along the park trails tracking the gorillas. The walk through the forest in search of these great apes will be eye-opening, with a knowledgeable guide providing information about the surrounding flora and fauna. You will meet the gorillas and then spend an hour with them watching them feed, care for the young ones. After trekking you will return to your lodge. All meals and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 3: Bwindi

Drive back to Kampala and later transfer to Entebbe Airport for your onward travel arrangements.

Note: There are also scheduled flights from Entebbe to Kihihi Airstrip in Bwindi, which will avoid the long road journeys.

3 Days Gorilla Tracking in Rwanda – Virunga Mountains

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & transfer to Virunga

You will be welcomed by a guide who will drive you to the north of Rwanda to Volcanoes National Park, viewing spectacular scenery of the Virunga Mountains en route (journey takes approximately 2hrs). Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking in Virunga

After breakfast head to the park headquarters with packed lunch & water for a briefing. Then proceed with your guide to track the gorillas. Time taken searching for these gentle giants ranges between 2-5 hours depending on the movement of gorillas. On finding the gorillas you will spend one hour in their presence and later return for lunch at the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 3: Return to Kigali, depart

After breakfast drive back to Kigali (journey takes approximately 2hrs). If time allows you will enjoy a city tour to see the genocide memorial and then transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
