Tour Consultants Janet and Margaret visited Soroi Collection, Lumo Conservancy – Taita Taveta
The Soroi Collection has 3 Camps which are located inside the private Lumo Conservancy. These are: – Soroi Lions Bluff Lodge, Soroi Cheetah Tented Camp and Soroi Leopards Lair. These Camps are located in the same area and one can access one from the other. The Camps are located on a hill with Lions Bluff Lodge being at the top.
The Camps are accessible by air, road and rail. The transfer from Voi train station is approx. 1.5 hours. It is 20 minutes away from the nearest airstrip, Taita Hills, and 6-7hrs drive from Nairobi. Soroi Cheetah Tented Camp is the newest property having been opened in 2022.
There are daily scheduled flights from Nairobi and Mombasa to Taita Hills operating with minimum 4 passengers.

Soroi Leopards Lair Cottages

The Lodge has only five en-suite Cottages, designed with local materials and warm, earthy colors, ensures an intimate and personal experience. Each Cottage has a self-catering kitchen and guests have the option of being accommodated on self-catering basis.
Janet and Margaret’s comments on the 3 camps:
- The three camps are not fenced, guests are advised not to wander around on their own as animals can come close to the Camps. Escort to the rooms is given by the security personnel.
- Children of all ages are allowed at both properties.
- The food served during meals was very good.
- Soroi Lions Bluff Lodge has a pool while the other two don’t.
- They have a Photographic Hide
- The Camps offer a number of kids activities including; Bush walks, Nature scavenger hunt, Art and craft.
- The Camps are eco-friendly with solar lighting & electricity.
- The camps have both closed and open-sided 4×4 Land Cruisers for guests to hire for game drives (at an extra cost)
- The game drive experience at Lumo Private Conservancy is great with a variety of wildlife including cats to see. Their arrangement with the adjacent Taita Hills Conservancy to allow Lumo guests to visit at no extra cost is an added advantage.
- While at Lumo one can also do sundowners, bushwalks, bush breakfast and cultural visits. Guests on longer stays can also visit the nearby Tsavo Park, Lake Jipe or trek the Taita Hills
