Margaret our Tour Consultant visits Soroi Collection, Masai Mara

The Soroi Collection has 3 Camps which are located inside Maasai Mara National Reserve. These are: Mara Bush Camp, Soroi Private Wing and Soroi Luxury Migration Camp. The Camps are located near each other on the banks of the Olare Orok River. The drive to the Camps is approx. 5 hours from Nairobi. It is 10 minutes away from the nearest airstrip, Ol Kiombo and 1hr from Sekenani gate. Soroi Luxury Migration is the newest property having been opened in 2022.

  • Soroi Mara Bush Camp
The camp is designed for couples and families and provides a unique, intimate, and memorable experience with a gold Eco Rating. It has ten luxury river-facing tents accommodating two adults and one child. They have two family tents that accommodate up to four persons. Each tent has a mosquito net, en-suite bathrooms and permanent hot & cold shower, flushing toilet, clothes rack & storage chest, charging points, writing desk & private veranda on a wooden deck.
  • Soroi Private Wing
The Private Wing offers the desired exclusivity for guests who are looking for maximum privacy, with 8 tents overlooking the river and 4 tents facing the forest. All tents feature a spacious en-suite bathroom with eco-friendly flush toilets & permanent showers. The camp overlooks a large hippo pool where guests can watch their antics from the Hippo Bar or the comfort of their indulgent safari tent.
  • Soroi Luxury Migration Camp
Soroi Luxury Migration Camp has eight river-facing luxury tents and two family units, complemented by alfresco dining area and hippo pool. The luxury family unit has two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. A private lounge separates the bedrooms and forms an ideal space where everyone can unwind and reconnect. One of the river-facing luxury tents is accessible to people with disability. Each tent has a mosquito net, en-suite bathrooms and permanent hot & cold shower, flushing toilet, clothes rack & storage chest, charging points, writing desk & private veranda on a wooden deck.

Margaret’s comments on the 3 camps:

  • The three camps (Mara Bush Camp, Private Wing and Luxury Migration) are not fenced.
  • The food served during meals was very good.
  • None of the 3 Camps has a pool.
  • The Camps offer a number of kid’s activities including; Bush walks, Nature scavenger hunt, Art  and craft, Animal spoor cast and The Maasai Warrior where kids spend a day like a Maasai.
Dress up in Maasai attire, make own bow and arrow with a real Maasai, trace wildlife footprints & own Maasai beaded jewelry.
  • The Camps are eco-friendly with solar lighting & water for showers, heated by paraffin instead of charcoal. A generator is provided as a backup system for charging camera equipment, laptops and phones with power points all around the lounge & mess tents. (The generator is silent as it is situated in a mud enclosure).
  • The camps have both closed and open sided 4×4 Land Cruisers for guests to use on game drives
    (at an extra cost)
